Well this is a first. Sure we’ve seen games based on movies. We’ve even seen movies based on games. However, I’m fairly definitely positive we’ve never seen a movie based on a game that was supposed to be based on the same movie only the movie never came out but now it will because of the game. Normally something that complicated would have surely ripped open a hole in time and space. Luckily though (I can only assume) we were saved at the zero hour by this site’s all time favorite human being, none other than Sir Vin Diesel.
Turns out Wheelman, starring our chiseled savior, is going to be a movie after all and be directed by John Singleton. Originally, the game was supposed to coincide with a movie of the same name, however the movie ended up being canned while the game still came out as planned to lukewarm reviews. This was a no-brainer as Vin Diesel + movie + cars = crap ton o’ cash.
Details on a new Tony Hawk game are expected soon. Score another win for my crystal ball! It looks as if Activision has used the previously unheard of two year layoff to change things up a bit. So much so that apparently you won’t be using a controller to play the game if you believe GameTrailers’ Geoff Keighley who says you are “not going to be playing Tony Hawk with a controller in your hands.” Could be that this one is a Wii exclusive that will be using the Wii Fit balance board. More likely though is that Activision is crafting a skateboard peripheral for the 360 and PS3 crowds. We’ll find out May 15th.
Speaking of Activision, looks like they’ll be combining two of my favorite things in the whole wide world: Modern Warfare and LeBron James. World premier gameplay footage of the newest Call of Duty… errr Modern Warfare 2 will drop during the NBA Eastern Conference finals. Perhaps the first look at this year’s sure to be best seller is the only thing that could possibly upstage my Cleveland Cavaliers.
We’ll leave you with a couple videos that have surfaced that should not be viewed at work or in front of younglings. The first is from the fine folks at BioWare. It shows off some gameplay for Dragon Age Origins to the sounds of a potty mouthed Marilyn Manson. Curious.
Second, and this is hard to watch, actual honest to goodness Duke Nukem Forever gameplay footage. It was one thing to know this game was never coming out when I didn’t think they were actually making it in the first place. but to think they might have actually had something going (according to former 3D Realms employee Bryan Brewer) just breaks my heart. (Caution: Boobs)
And, what the hell, I’ll give you the 15 appetizing seconds of Modern Warfare 2 that wets the appetite for the official world premier.
You can find all three videos after the break.

After playing the demo for Wheelman, I was convinced that I would buy this game. It had speed, explosions, fast cars, and Vin Diesel, the current apple of PNG’s eye. It was looking like it for fans such as us, starting with the week of Wheelman’s release, we were about to get more of our deep gravelly voiced hero than we could handle with 3 straight weeks of Diesel. So I dove into the game on launch day with a personal sized frozen pizza, a glass of wine, and Wheelman.
This video is rated R. Contains language that may not be suitable for children. You’ve been warned. What do you want from me? When Vin Diesel threatens you, you GET SCARED!
Welcome to PNG’s 100th post! We have a little surprise for you guys after the break. We have to get this little matter of some news out of the way first. Not a whole lot going on interesting even with GDC 2009 happening as we speak.
If you’re an owner of Fallout 3 for Xbox 360, you’ll find that Bethesda’s much awaited second DLC pack was unceremoniously yanked off of Xbox Live shortly after it was made available. Apparently, they uploaded a corrupt version of the English file that was resulting in some pretty crazy glitches. Giant Bomb has the story here.
Ubisoft’s deal of the day on Steam happens to be a game near and dear to Logan’s heart. Prince of Persia is on sale for 50% bringing it to a paltry $24.99 over here and in the Steam client. No word on if they’ll discount the ending for you also.
Your delicious surprise after the break…
Modesty be damned. Mr. Diesel has finally said what you should already know! So deadly that even when sucking on helium he still sounds tougher than you! It is well known that Vinny is a fan of the pixels AND the grids and talks about both in this interview with Jonathan Ross of BBC One.

Here at PNG, we just don’t know how to let our obsession with celebrity created or backed video games go. We ranted and raved about 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand, and we have yet to fully begin our massive marketing push for Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena. Much like Mr. Cent, Vin’s got your back when it comes to punching and stabbing your friends online. Check out 1up’s article here about how he let Starbreeze know what’s up.
As my “internet sifter” has been most unkind with grids news, you’ll have to settle for some digital grids information. 1Up has a post up giving the low down on Hasbro Family Game Night that hit Xbox Live on Wednesday with a ballsy catch. The shell can be downloaded for free, but each of the four games it launched with cost $10 a piece (800 MS points). It seems to have struck a nerve with our fellow bloggers out there as there as it seems a bit much to be charging for Yahtzee. However, if these games support online play, it’s way better than spending the $5 – $8 on their board or card counter parts just to have it sit in a closet most of the time.
Kotaku has some numbers out for Resident Evil 5’s sales numbers out in Europe over the weekend. Apparently Bono is going to be pissed.
Speaking of numbers and on a completely unrelated note, I think Duke Nukem Forever is coming out this year.

Last week we got a double dose of Diesel on Xbox Live and man were we pumped here at PNG. Jeff definitely piqued my interest during our last Audiophile when he compared it to Burnout with a story. As I fell deeply in love with Burnout Paradise, I couldn’t see anything wrong with giving the demo a shot. After all, it is free.
After playing the 3 missions they give you in the demo, I can say three words enthusiastically. Play this now.
